Bandon December Rough Ocean

Beautiful blue sky weather not typical for December in Bandon. Sunshine and very little breeze but the ocean tides are high and rough. The day and time I took these photos, the pelicans (I guess they are going to spend the winter with us) had moved from there river gathering site to the off shore rocks because of the high tide.

Bandon Beach High Surf

Viewing storms at the coast are always thrilling. The most recent storm hit us this week with winds up to 60mph. A new storm will arrive this afternoon again bringing high winds through tomorrow.
Here are a few photos of the surf on Wednesday Nov. 18th.

Bandon Pelican Convention

Yesterday,on a trip down to the jetty Sandy and I saw a site you do not see often. Along the jetty road in the river hundreds of pelicans had gathered, what a site! The pelicans would fly in,hit the water and start flapping there wings in the water making it quite noisy. Does anybody know why they gather like this?
10/29 Found out, they are making there annual migration to Southern Ca. and Mexico, just staying an extra few days in Oregon. They have been here at Bandon for three days now.

Bandon Economy Vacation Rentals

Yes there are some economic beach rentals, not only at Bandon but also available up and down the Oregon Coast.
The rentals though a little bit rustic have a great beach and ocean view and they are only steps away from the surf. Housekeeping is easy and you do have to supply your own utensils and linen.

Here is a photo of two that are available.

I MUST WARN!! DO NOT RENT DURING A WINTER STORM, HERE IS PHOTO WHY!

Stormy Beach

Bandon in November was almost like Summer, I could hardly believe I was living on the Oregon Coast in the winter. December the storms have started and the rain is here. The beaches change daily during the storms and here are some photos of a stormy beach. Tomorrow the driftwood may be gone or piled neatly somewhere else.
